INVISTA, a producer of nylon polymer, has unveiled a new technology for producing adiponitrile, which is the main ingredient for nylon 6,6. The company has finally developed this new technology after spending over $40 million in R&D, which was carried out in two continents for four years.
Alcoa has announced that the construction of greenfield modern aluminum lithium plant has been commenced near its previous plant. Over 20,000 t of aluminum lithium will be manufactured at this new 115,000 square-foot expansion facility, which has the ability to cast rectangular and round ingot for use in extruded, forged and rolled applications. The worth of this new expansion is $90 million.
A research team led by Professor Sarbajit Banerjee and PhD student Robert Dennis from the University at Buffalo has achieved a key development on rust-proof steel with the use of a graphene-based composite, which is under development at the university.
