Bruker Announces Acquisition of Active Spectrum Micro-ESR Business

Bruker today announced that it has acquired Active Spectrum Inc. in Foster City, California, the inventor and manufacturer of innovative benchtop micro-ESR (Electron Spin Resonance) spectroscopy systems used for chemistry teaching and research, as well as for applied and industrial applications. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Techsil Launch New Range of Water-based Adhesives for Vehicle Flooring and Interiors

Vehicle manufacturers are investigating using lightweight materials as one approach to reducing emissions. Plastics and reinforced composites are increasingly being used to make components throughout the vehicle but the bonding difficulties associated with these materials can cause a real headache for manufacturers. Traditional mechanical fasteners have the disadvantage of adding weight so engineers have been turning to adhesives to join these substrates together. However, one drawback is that the adhesives needed to provide a strong reliable bond to plastics are solvent-based and these solvents pose real hazards to humans and the environment making them less welcome in manufacturing.

Lucifer Furnaces HS8 Series for High Speed Steel Heat Treating

Lucifer Furnaces, Inc. has designed a delivered a dual chamber furnace ideal for heat treating high speed steels. The HS8 Series, built with rugged 12-gauge sheet steel and reinforced throughout, heats to 2450°F in the upper chamber with silicon carbide heating elements mounted across the roof and below the hearth. Elements are a solid bar type with termination connections for easy service via removable covers on both sides of the furnace.
