BASF to Close Korean Butanediol and THF Plant

BASF
plans to permanently close its production facility for 1,4-butanediol (BDO)
and tetrahydrofuran (THF) in Ulsan, which has been temporarily shut down since
August 2008, and the company will continue to supply related customers via its
global network. BASF’s PolyTHF plant in Ulsan will continue to operate
with feedstock from the network accordingly.

Qatar to Get Aluminium Research and Training Center

Hydro
will establish a research and training center in Qatar, called the Hydro Technology
Center. The center will be located at the Qatar Science & Technology Park
in Doha, and is scheduled to open this spring. An agreement between Hydro and
Qatar Science & Technology Park was signed on Wednesday.
