Alcoa Iceland Managing Director Receives Gold Stevie Award

Alcoa announced today that Janne Sigurdsson, Managing Director of Alcoa Iceland, has been named the gold Stevie Award winner for Female Executive of the Year in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the 9th annual awards ceremony held recently in New York. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run.

Sonoco Recycling Invests in Columbia Materials Recovery Facility

Sonoco Recycling, LLC, a unit of Sonoco, has invested $4 million in its Columbia, S.C., materials recovery facility (MRF), allowing the facility to accept additional types of materials. Because of this, Richland County residents will now be able to recycle more of their household materials such as composite cans, glass, magazines and other types of plastics.

BASF Announces Completion of Becker Underwood Acquisition

BASF has completed the acquisition of Becker Underwood from Norwest Equity Partners, a U.S.-based private equity investment company, for a purchase price of US$1.02 billion (EUR 785 million). With the acquisition, BASF is now a leading global provider of technologies for biological seed treatment as well as seed treatment colorants and polymers. BASF has also expanded its product portfolio in the areas of biological crop protection, turf and horticulture, animal nutrition and landscape colorants and coatings.

Air Products to Build India’s First Solar-Powered Renewable Hydrogen Fueling Station

Air Products today announced it has been awarded a contract with India's University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) to build the country's first solar powered renewable hydrogen fueling station. Air Products' hydrogen fueling technology and infrastructure will be part of a mass public transit bus fueling and vehicle demonstration program administered by UPES.
