Applications of Multivariate Statistics in Forensic Science at Pittcon 2013

This video gives a demonstration on the application of multivariate statistical processes to various data sets applicable to forensics at Pittcon 2013.

Examples comprise infrared spectra of controlled substances, chromatograms of fire debris samples, and elemental profiles of document paper. Before statistical analysis, data pretreatment procedures must be taken into account to reduce non-chemical sources of discrepancy within the data set. The application and assessment of pretreatment choices for each data type are demonstrated in this presentation.
