Utility and Mechanistic Aspects of Inlet Ionization at Pittcon 2013

This video shows a presentation on the utility and mechanistic aspects of inlet ionization at Pittcon 2013. Ions of many charges can be produced through electrospray ionization of a protein tertiary structure in solution. Each ion can exist as multiple conformers. On the contrary, there is no clear picture on how gas phase folding and unfolding of the conformer can create these changes.

Using IR or collisional activation, electron capture dissociation, infrared photodissociation spectroscopy, charge site spectra, and H/D exchange, significant details of near-complete conformational evolution has now been reported on the conversion of native ubiquitin ions into gas phase.
