PI Hexapods: Image Stabilization Simulator for Drones

This video shows a simulation of a quadrocopter’s (drone) flight to test the quality of the camera’s image stabilization. A CIPA-certified Hexapod from Physik Instrumente (PI) was used to simulate the motion. Owing to its parallel-kinematic design, the Hexapod realizes path accuracy, much higher dynamics, and repeatability on all six axes compared to stacked systems. Its 6D motion simulation is designed to test and improve image stabilization algorithms and mechanisms. It has a programmable center of rotation and coordinate systems. The package comes with powerful controller and extensive software support.
