Q-521 – The Smallest Linear Stage from PI

This video shows the Q-Motion Miniature Linear Positioning Stage Q-521 from Physik Instrumente (PI). The Q-521 is a compact, high resolution, and cost-efficient miniature linear stage. It offers direct position measurement with integrated incremental encoder, up to 1 nm resolution. It has a velocity of 10 mm/second and is self-locking when at rest, which means no heat generation and no servo jitter. Further, the Q-521 has 1 N push/pull force.

All Q-Motion® stages can be operated in high vacuum to 10-6 hPa. In addition,  ultrahigh vacuum variants for 10-9 hPa are also available. The Q-521 holds applications in various fields of industry and research such as micromanipulation,  microscopy, metrology, automation, and biotechnology.
