The FR-7100 is a uniform polyurethane foam board that is easily painted or finished for economical core applications, prototypes, hand-carved models, industrial patterns, CNC-machined topographical maps, and composite layup tools below 200 ºF. This series is non-abrasive and can be machined with basic high-speed steel (HSS) cutting tools. It can also be cut cleanly with traditional wood-carving tools and water jets. Modeling foam is available in densities of 4 to 40 lbs. per cubic ft. as large-size blocks as well as sheet stock. The FR-7100 Series is suitable for applications that demand an economical, stable, and versatile stock material.
Composite Core
The FR-7100 boards can be used in a number of densities. The ability to integrate high and low densities in one layup makes it a suitable material for composite layups. The material does not contain any mold-release agent to inhibit bonding.
Marine
These products are formulated to meet the requirements of composite boat builders at competitive prices for above water line or marine application: fish boxes, freezer insulation, seat mounting pads, interiors, steering wheel mountings, and decks.
Prototypes and Models
The FR-7100 material is ideal for hand-carved models, CNC-machined topographical prototypes, maps, and industrial patterns.
Tooling and Molds
The LAST-A-FOAM® FR-7100 products have been used effectively in modeling foam tooling applications for a number of years. This material meets the demands of mold and toolmakers because it is stress-free, and even in density throughout the block. For applications needing greater detail, higher strength, or increased heat and pressure resistance at process temperature, a density of 20 lb. per cubic foot is typically the ideal choice. Common uses include drape-forming tools, composite layup tools, and vacuum-form tools.
Advantages
The main advantages of the FR-7100 are as follows:
	- Easily painted and bonded
- Fine cell structure supports very smooth finishes
- Closed-cell foam does not absorb water or moisture
- Grain-free surface
- Cost-effective and versatile
- Dimensionally stable – will not twist, warp, or bow
- Easily shaped with a number of cutting processes
Applications
The main applications of the FR-7100 are as follows:
	- Proofing NC/CNC machine programs
- Layup tools
- Composite core
- Prototype models
- Solar: Panel backing and support, parabolic mirror farms
- Marine: Interior, galleys, heads, mounting pads, and more
- Custom parts
- Vacuum-form tools
- Drape-forming tools
