Equipment |Glossmeters

A glossmeter is an instrument used to measure the gloss of a surface, which is represented by a shiny, lustrous or metallic appearance. Glossmeters direct a known amount of light at a specific angle onto the test surface of the material, while simultaneously measuring the specular reflection given off from the surface. Measuring the gloss of a material ensures that products have the maximum appeal, while also determining the amount and type of coating applied to the surface during manufacturing. Glossmeters are used as quality control measurements for a variety of products including car body panels, magazine covers, or satin designer furniture.
