Field of Application

The Promass U 500 is an excellent single-use flowmeter for biopharmaceutical applications in the life sciences industry. It represents a response to the transition from multi-use to single-use gadgets, as well as batch to continuous manufacturing.

Promass U 500 offers multivariable measurement, which improves reliability, precision, and industry compliance according to cGMP standards. The flowmeter is well-suited for upstream and downstream monoclonal antibody (mAb) applications.

The sensor consists of two parts: a disposable portion available in four line diameters and a permanently installed base unit that fits all line sizes. Heartbeat Technology detects the flow range and validates the factory calibration after installation.

This simplifies the commissioning process and eliminates the requirement for field calibration. The transmitter, which has a built-in web server, WLAN, and up to four I/Os, allows for easy operation as well as additional process and device information.

Benefits

  • Best-in-class measuring accuracy: Coriolis technology with multivariable measuring
  • Highest turndown ratio: One sensor accommodates all line sizes of disposables
  • cGMP compliance: Created according to the most recent standards and rules, complete with the necessary attributes and documentation
  • Simple, fast commissioning: One-handed mounting and automated calibration data transfer
  • Self-drainability or air bubble escape: Thanks to variable mounting angles
  • No field calibration needed: Automated verification using embedded Heartbeat Technology
  • Digital integration: Modern single-pair Ethernet-based communication methods
