ASTM D2290 (Tensile)
Depending on the pipe size, two different test fixtures are used. For pipe sizes under 14 inches (Procedures A, B, and C), the test specimens are full-section width. The tension test fixture is self-aligning and includes two half-moon adapters. It attaches to the fixed and movable members of the load frame, ensuring that the applied pull is directed perpendicular to the split axis of the test fixture.
For Procedures D and E, the test specimens are ring segments and are secured to the fixture using the supplied pins. This fixture is also mounted to the fixed and movable members of the load frame so that the applied force remains perpendicular to the fixture’s split axis.
ATS test frames automatically calculate the Hoop Tensile Strength and include the results in a summary report.

ASTM D2241/D2412 / D2665 (Compression)
For ASTM D2241 and D2665, ATS provides steel plate flattening fixtures designed for pass/fail testing to determine whether splitting, cracking, or breaking occurs.
For ASTM D2414, ATS offers steel flattening fixtures along with a deformation indicator to monitor changes during testing.
ATS test frames also calculate Pipe Stiffness and generate a summary report with the results.
