The AS-200 Scott Volumeter uses the volumetric method to measure the bulk density of powders.
Unlike the AIMSIZER Powder Comprehensive Characteristics Tester, which can measure 15 physical parameters, this device is limited to characterizing powder flowability by evaluating the powder's loose bulk density. It comprises a sieve, round funnels, a sample dispersion box, a square funnel, a stand, a base, and a density cup.
Notable features include funnels and density cups constructed from stainless steel 304; the volume of the density cup is calibrated in accordance with international standards, and a calibration certificate is provided at no additional cost. It adheres to a range of international standards, such as USP (United States Pharmacopeia), EP (European Pharmacopoeia), ASTM B329, and ISO 3923-2.
- Test Range: Bulk Density (Loose Density)
- Sieve Mesh Size: 1.18 mm (replaceable)
- Square Funnel Side Length (Top/Bottom): 41/13 mm
- Distance Between Square Funnel and Density Cup: 19 mm
- Round Funnel Inner Diameter (Top/Middle/Bottom): 114/50/25 mm
- Density Cup Volume: 25 ± 0.03 cm³
- Dimensions and Weight: W150 × D200 × H420 mm / 5 kg
The powder is positioned on the sieve situated between the round funnels, and it flows naturally or with the assistance of an external force into the powder dispersion box. It sequentially traverses four glass plates and a square funnel within the powder dispersion box before ultimately flowing into a cylindrical cup of known volume (density cup) in a loose state.
The cup is leveled, and the mass of the powder within it is measured. The powder density is calculated by dividing the mass by the calibrated volume.
