The PSM-500 in-Stream Particle Size Analyzer for Multi-Line Monitoring

The Thermo Scientific Particle Size Analyzer PSM-500 optimizes energy efficiency and improves mineral recovery and quality in cement, coal, and mineral plants. The PSM-500 uses ultrasonic attenuation to provide a minute-by-minute study of particle size distribution, which is utilized in grind control optimization to prevent over- or under-grinding.

The robust online particle size analyzer uses a vacuum educator to draw its own continuous sample. The sample is de-aerated in the sample conditioner to help with the ultrasonic measurement before it is passed between ultrasonic sensors that are diametrically opposed and then put back into the process.

The system allows for in-stream particle analysis of up to three streams in real-time. It also has the ability to measure up to nine particle size fractions in parallel.
