The Thermo Scientific™ Elescan™ XRF-100 Online Multi-stream Elemental Slurry Analyzer enables real-time elemental analysis of slurry streams in mining and mineral processing. It uses energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) to provide exact measurements of metal concentrations in crucial process streams, enabling process control choices and troubleshooting beneficiation circuits to reduce metal losses and improve reagent use.
A fundamental advantage of combining EDXRF technology (which uses a single detector to evaluate multiple elements) with a low-power, air-cooled X-ray tube is the ability to get a continuous X-ray energy spectrum. This permits the detection of unexpected components as ore deposits evolve over time.
Compared to WDXRF systems, this method also enables the use of a cheap, low-power excitation source. While still providing superior energy resolution, fast counting rates, and quick cycle durations in a multiplexed analyzer, replacement costs are substantially cheaper than those of WDXRF excitation sources due to their longer service life.
