Meeting the Needs of a Magnet Industry with the Gaussmeter

Lake Shore’s Model 425 Gaussmeter

Specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of the permanent magnet industry, the Lake Shore Model 425 gaussmeter provides users with high-end functionality and performance capabilities in an affordable and easily-integrated desktop instrument.

When used in combination with the built-in relay and audible alarm features, the Model 425 provides precise data to ensure that the user can be confident with all acquired results, thereby improving the ease of magnet testing and sorting procedures.  The Model 425 is an ideal tool for manufacturing, quality control and research and development (R&D) flux density measurement applications. To increase the functionality of this device, the Lake Shore Hall probe can be added.

High Throughput

The Model 425 is equipped with an intuitive menu navigation and keypad that provides an exceptional ease of use to the user. This is a result of its straightforward operation and the easy-to-understand display which prompts to assist during set-up procedures.

In addition to being user friendly, the Model 425 provides users with automated magnet testing and sorting features that streamline sorting and testing operations. Furthermore, the hot swapping of Hall probes allows probe types to be easily switched without powering the instrument off and back on to ultimately increase overall productivity of users.

DC Measurement Mode

When in the DC mode, the Model 425 uses probe field compensation to correct for probe nonlinearities and ultimately provide a DC accuracy of ±0.20%. Measurement resolution is further enhanced with internal filtering to provide an overall resolution to 4¾ digits with reading rates of up to 30 readings per second over the USB interface.

AC Measurement Mode

The Model 425 is also equipped with an AC measurement mode that is useful for measuring periodic AC fields. By providing users with an overall frequency range of 10 Hz to 10 kHz, the Model 425 AC measurement mode is equipped with both narrow and wide band frequency modes. While present in the narrow band mode, frequencies above 400 Hz are filtered out for improved measurement performance.
