PELCO® easiCore™ Rotary Disc Cutter for TEM, Semiconductors, and More

The PELCO® easiCore Rotary Disc Cutter is a high-precision instrument designed for accurately aligning and cutting discs or drilling holes in various materials. It utilizes brass core drills and abrasive slurry to ensure precise and efficient material processing. A readily adjustable counterbalanced weight controls the force used to lower the rotating tool onto the specimen.

Although cutting 3.0 mm discs for TEM is the instrument's most popular use, a variety of metric and Imperial core drill diameters are available for use in semiconductors and battery materials, among other applications.

The PELCO® easiCore gentle lapping action can cut soft metals, hard ceramics, and even delicate crystals, in contrast to ultrasonic disc cutters that can only cut brittle materials. For workflow simplification, specimens can be mounted on fixtures that work with the PELCO® Precision Wire Saw, PELCO® Precision Low Speed Saw, or PELCO® Dimpler

The sliding X-Y stage with rulers marked at 1 mm intervals can be used to position the sample in both the X and Y directions once it is on the stage.

Multiple cutting modes, including an automatic stop with an optional timed delay, are available to guarantee that samples are completely cut, even if they were mounted or cut slightly asymmetrically.

A timed mode lasting up to 120 minutes is also available. The load on the specimen is continuously variable up to 1 kg (2.2 lbs), and the variable speed can be adjusted between 100 and 1500 RPM. The PELCO® easiCore can be used with the PELCO® Abrasive Dispenser to dispense abrasive suspensions in a timed or measured manner for long cuts where abrasive replenishment is required.

Features

  • A gentle lapping action can cut almost any material, including those that an ultrasonic cutter cannot.
  • High-tolerance rotational accuracy protects even the most delicate materials from chipping and cracking.
  • The portability of PELCO® Dimpler™, PELCO® Precision Wire Saw™, and PELCO® Precision Low Speed Saw™ specimen mounts increases throughput and maximizes specimen yield.
  • Able to cut discs ranging in size from 2.3 to 25 mm in metric and 1/8 to 1/2" in imperial.
  • An automatic termination and a constant gravity-feed mechanism reduce operator supervision.
  • A time delay built into the auto-stop switch removes the chance of an early shutdown.
  • The LED ring light illuminates the stage, providing clear visibility and enabling precise alignment of the region of interest with the core drill.
  • The measured X-Y stage makes precise positioning possible during repeated sampling.
