The combiSENSOR series redefines performance standards in non-contact thickness measurement. These sensors are precise and integrate the benefits of capacitive sensors and eddy current technology in one platform. The technology allows for micrometer-precise measurement of material thicknesses, e.g., plastic films and battery coatings.
It also allows for measuring materials with thicknesses as low as 5 µm. Owing to their robust design, the sensors can work reliably in extreme industrial conditions with high temperatures.
The technology is an ideal solution for measuring inline the thickness of films, electrode coatings, and coated metals that require high reliability and precision.
Robust Design for Harsh Environments
The combiSENSOR series can be employed in extreme industrial conditions with high temperatures of up to 180 °C due to its durable design and technical performance. These sensors are flexible and can be used in various applications such as plastic films, electrode coating, or coated metals, and ensure consistently high quality in strip processes.

The combiSENSOR KSB6430 is used for measuring the thickness of electrode coatings. It can measure from a material thickness of just 5 µm. Measurement is carried out on a chrome-coated roller that guides the material. Its high accuracy and strong design make it suitable for inline thickness monitoring in battery film coating processes.

Measuring Principle

The combiSENSOR determines coating thickness by using a capacitive sensor to measure the distance to the coating surface and an eddy current sensor to measure the distance to the metal roller. The difference between the two signals denotes the total thickness of the coated film. Mechanical influences are automatically compensated for.
