The thicknessGAUGE 3D is a sensor system used for 3D measurement and inline profile evaluation of sheet and strip materials, e.g., strand profiles, weld seams, or the edge of coating applications. It has a stable frame with two laser scanners connected to it. The scanners capture the profiles of lower and upper surfaces and allow for both individual and combined profile calculation, generating a 3D point cloud.

The thicknessGAUGE sensor systems are factory-assembled, calibrated, and delivered ready for operation. Further, the laser scanners are also properly mounted and adjusted to each other, ensuring highly accurate measurements. The system transitions from parking to measurement mode, and during automatic calibration, it shifts back to the parking mode.
Automatic Calculation with Extensive Configuration Options

The thicknessGAUGE 3D system allows for automatic measurement. The process requires a configuration file that is provided by Micro-Epsilon and imported into the system. Optional 3DInspect software allows users to create their own or multiple configuration files. The software enables the selection of any parameter, while also allowing for configuring various measuring object geometries for future calculations.
Advanced tools in the software enable filtering and alignment of the point cloud, combining programs, and detecting and selecting relevant areas.
