Cannon Instrument Company is excited to introduce its new CAV™ instrument series. These instruments combine the greatest aspects/features of CANNON’s three generations of automated kinematic viscosity (KV) instruments, which have dominated the industry in quality, accuracy, and dependability for the past five decades.
Like previous generations, the CAV 5 family of KV instruments follows ASTM D445 - the gold standard for measuring kinematic viscosity.
The brand-new CAV 5 platform is intended to provide users with maximum flexibility in selecting features and performance to suit their unique requirements. Customers can pick the features they require for their application or applications, or they can have all the functions on a single all-rounder device. The platform is made to deal with a wide range of sample materials in the field of kinematic viscosity.
Key Features: One Platform, Any Sample, Total Control
The CAV 5 optimizes throughput, reliability, and control by combining intelligent thermal management, enhanced cleaning, and autonomous operation in a small, space-saving design. This platform combines the best features of three generations (CAV 2100, miniAV, and CAV 4) and incorporates new improvements.
This instrument offers Cannon’s best performance to date and can be installed and controlled from any location, thanks to decades of technical experience. While IntelliStart, Intelligent SmartDraw, and Run True guarantee precise, repeatable measurements over a broad range of viscosities, Tray Heat and TargetHeat swiftly and evenly bring samples to test-ready conditions by administering heat only where necessary to safeguard sample integrity.
Efficiency is more than testing: the WashPort and Vial Wash systems enable accurate, solvent-conscious cleaning that improves hazardous-material management while reducing waste and consumables. Cleaning performance is further enhanced with CleanBoost, three-solvent capabilities, and heated waste lines.
Laboratories benefit from standardized, compliant performance with full data visibility thanks to autonomous, untethered operation and Sync Anywhere powered by FlowHub, which enables centralized method deployment and automatic result synchronization across CAV 5, CCS-G6, and UltraVis instruments.
The CAV 5 offers continuous operation and smooth integration into any workflow thanks to its single bath/tube design, which supports redundancy and zero downtime.

FlowHub® Software
The Cannon website offers the extra software FlowHub® for free download. It uses an Ethernet port and a computer running Windows 10 or later.
FlowHub enables the central deployment of authorized procedures, the local execution of tests, and the collection of findings across laboratories, campuses, or multiple sites.
Additionally, it makes it simple to retrieve sample data from an infinite number of instruments at various places using one or more computers at any point on the company's network.
Key features of the FlowHub Software include:
- Checking standard administration
- Transferring carousel data to instruments
- Automated backups of instrument settings
