The Cannon automated CCS™-G6 is a cold-cranking simulator designed to determine the apparent viscosity of engine oils within a temperature range of –40 to –5 °C. Its automated sample handling, operation, and solvent-free cleaning capabilities enable unattended analysis of up to 14 samples in a single run.
Typical uses include testing engine oils, lubricating base stocks, and related base stocks. The instrument complies with ASTM D5293 and SAE J300 specifications.
Features and Benefits
Meets All ASTM D5293 and SAE J300 Requirements and Precision Specifications
- Instrument temperature range: –40 to –5 °C (± 0.05 °C)
- Viscosity range: 900 mPa⋅s (cP) to 25,000 mPa⋅s (cP)
Unmatched Automation with Integrated Design
- Solvent-Free Cleaning: Automatically removes prior samples using part of the following sample during a thermoelectric heating cycle, completely removing the need for external solvents
- Fully Automated Operation: Load and analyze up to 14 samples with unattended operation to ensure repeatability and reproducibility
- Compact design without an external chiller, waste pump, or computer, maximizing laboratory space
Updated Efficiency and Control
- Calibration Flexibility: An optional 4-oil enhanced calibration shortens calibration time considerably without affecting result accuracy
- Users are provided with the capability to verify temperature accuracy and perform calibration on their own instrument
- Fully automated speed calibration removes the requirement for manual trial-and-error adjustments
Reliable, Convenient Performance
- Standalone Touchscreen Interface: An intuitive display enables easy setup, testing, and onboard diagnostics, with data management options including saving or exporting results and related information via a flash drive or an Ethernet connection.
- FlowHub® software supports data exchange between a single computer and multiple instruments, including Exporting and Importing data. 1) Export: transfer data to LIMS, generate calibration certificates, configure carousels, manage standard oils, enable automatic backup of instrument settings, among many additional features. 2) Import: bring in data, calibration data from the instrument, along with various other functions.
