ARIS Compact UV-VIS Spectrometer

The ARIS spectrometer is a significant advancement in embedded spectroscopy. This laboratory-grade instrument is suitable for portable and industrial applications due to its small size, low cost, and high dependability.

The ARIS spectrometer outperforms other spectrometers in its price range with its high-throughput optical design and two- to four-times higher sensitivity. Optimized stray-light suppression allows for measurement of higher absorbance values.

The ARIS spectrometer enables unparalleled flexibility to meet individual application needs. The product is offered in six basic wavelength ranges and can be modified with various diffraction gratings. The default 20 μm entrance slit is user-replaceable and can be simply swapped for improved sensitivity.

Standard configurations contain one of two image sensors, with additional options available upon request. The sophisticated microcontroller handles auto-exposure, averaging, buffering, and spectrum processing. Additionally, it supports application-specific spectrum assessment.

The ARIS spectrometer is reliable and small, making it suitable for both laboratory and field use.

Resolutions are given for the default 20 μm entrance slit and the Toshiba image sensor. A larger entrance slit typically increases both the resolution and the sensitivity proportional to its width. The wavelength accuracy is typically one-third of the resolution.

Image Sensors

The ARIS comes with three different image sensors:

  • The Toshiba TCD1304 is cheaper, has somewhat better straylight performance, and allows for shorter exposure times.
  • The Hamamatsu S11639-01 has higher sensitivity and reduced readout noise, making it ideal for fast-changing signals and accurate external triggering.
  • The Hamamatsu S13496 is similar but has twice the number of pixels. This enhances resolution but reduces sensitivity to weak signals.
