Koehler K77001 Cloud Point Tester for Petroleum for Accurate Low‑Temperature Fuel Analysis

The K77001 Automatic Cloud Point Analyzer is a cutting-edge device that uses optical detection to measure cloud point. For some uses, the Cloud Point is a measure of the lowest temperature at which a petroleum product or biodiesel fuel may be used. In some fuel systems, wax crystals can clog filters if they are present in large enough quantities.

The K77001 Automatic Cloud Point Analyzer represents advanced technology for determining cloud point through Optical Detection. The cloud point serves as an indicator of the lowest temperature at which a petroleum product or biodiesel fuel remains usable for specific applications. A sufficient quantity of wax crystals can obstruct filters in certain fuel systems.

Includes:

  • Wireless Cloud Point Head
  • Cloud Point Test Vessel

ASTM D5771 describes how an automated equipment utilizing an optical device can determine the cloud point of petroleum products and biodiesel fuels that are transparent in layers 40 mm thick. With a temperature precision of 0.1 °C, this test technique covers the temperature range of –60 °C to +49 °C.

The specimen is gradually cooled in accordance with the cooling profile given in Table 1 of the procedure following the insertion of the designated test jar containing the specimen into the apparatus and the start of the program. A reflecting optical system continually checks the specimen for the development of a crystalline structure.

When the optical system detects wax crystallization in the material, the temperature is recorded with a precision of 0.1 °C. The specimen is subsequently heated to ease the initiation of the following test.
