VTG Tornado Touchscreen Cap Torque Tester

The VTG Tornado Touchscreen torque tester from Mecmesin is portable and IP54 rated for testing the applied and release torque of a wide variety of products.

Up to 10 N.m (90 lbf.in) can be measured to capture opening and closing torques on caps and closures.

Peak values are recorded with far more precision than analog torque meters, and the graph is plotted to show when the bridges of a tamper-evident band are broken. With a simple and cost-effective solution for torque applications, users can take the brand to the next level.

Overview

The VTG Tornado touchscreen cap torque tester has a variety of innovative features that make it stand out from other closing torque meters. A 5″ color touchscreen dual-zone display is included.

The peak values in N.cm, lbf.in and other standard units of measurement are prominently shown in the touchscreen’s upper zone.

The lower zone of the touchscreen displays a live graphical map of the torque applied, making crucial events like release torque, bridge-breaking of a TE band and strip torque easy to spot. The lower zone can be assigned to a statistical overview, with Maximum, Minimum, Average and Standard Deviation calculated from the peak measurements captured and saved in the VTG Tornado’s memory.

The initial slip torque, as well as the bridge-breaking torque, is captured thanks to a programmable first-peak function combined with the standard maximum reading. When testing the performance of plastic and metal tamper-evident closures (for example, ROPP), where a maximum reading alone is insufficient to detect both qualities, this is very useful.

Individual findings can be sent directly to a PC or printer for analysis via RS232, or an onboard memory of over 500 peak results can be used for mass storage and subsequent transfer to a printer or PC when batch testing. All of the individual data points for each test are saved on an external SD memory card in .csv format, which can be exported to Excel and other software tools.

During testing, the VTG Tornado has a programmable alarm option that displays red and green LEDs to indicate whether the torque reading is within or outside the closure’s tolerance limit.

There is a password-protected lock function to prevent operators from mistakenly altering units of measurement or operating mode. This is especially important when the instrument is operated by operators with varying skill levels throughout multiple shifts.

The product comes with a calibration certificate that is traceable to national standards as default.
