Achieve Exit Gas Analysis of Bioprocesses with the QIC BioStream

The QIC biosteam is designed for the continuous analysis of gases and vapours from multiple fermentation reactors and has multi off gas and multi reactor dissolved gas species analysis capability.

The system features Hiden’s advanced 'Proteus' Multi-stream selector valve along with an accurate, ultra-stable triple filter mass analyzer. Low internal dead volume and quick data acquisition enable switching times of less than 10 seconds for each stream.

Features

  • The system features 20-, 40- and 80-way sample configurations and an integral thermocouple or heater of up to 120 °C
  • Gas flows from 0.01 to 10 L per minute at pressures ranging from 10 mbar to 2 bar, with 100 amu profile in 2.5 seconds
  • Strong, flexible and heated QIC direct inlet has less than 500 ms response to vapors or gases
  • High sensitivity (to 5 ppb) and stability (< ±0.5% height variation, 24 hours), up to 510 amu
  • Zero 'crosstalk' for low memory effects and low dead volume for a quick response
  • Direct-drive, high-torque microstepping motor comes with an incremental rotary encoder for closed-loop motion and home z-position
  • The latest face-sealing technology offers an effective and durable seal (>6 × 106 events)
  • Windows ™—MASsoft control through Ethernet LAN, RS485, or RS232
  • Soft ionization for analyzing complex organics
  • Motion management, such as bi-directional travel for shortest path, error annunciation, position maintenance, and intelligent acceleration or deceleration

Key Features

  • Hiden 3F ultra-stable mass spectrometer
  • Rapid port switching
  • Quantitative gas analysis of up to 32 species
  • High flow configuration of up to 10 L/minute
  • Proteus 20, 40, or 80-way multi-port switching options are available
  • Low flow configuration from 4 mL/minute
  • OPC Server technology for process control
  • Dissolved species analysis
  • Respiratory Quotient (RQ)
  • CO2 Evolution Rate (CER)
  • Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR)
