Crime Scene Forensic Light Source: Mini-CrimeScope Advance

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance from HORIBA Scientific builds on the expertise and knowledge of around two decades of Forensic Light Source design.

The advanced light source integrates the same unparalleled reliability and user-friendliness of its predecessor together with next generation arc lamp technology to offer a unit that delivers excellent performance.

Extreme Reliability and Unmatched Ease of Use

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance is the most flexible forensic light source that comes with a choice of 8 or 15 wavelengths, all integrated into a single handheld filter wheel fitted at the working end of the liquid light guide. This set-up offers even greater ease of use when compared to the original Mini-CrimeScope®.

For Crime Scene and Laboratory Work

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance is suitable for body fluids, fingerprints (porous and non-porous surfaces), trace evidence, gunshot residues, shoeprints, bite marks and bruises, drugs and bone fragments.

Features

Power

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance is also the brightest bulb-based forensic light source available on the market. It uses novel bulb technology, as well as high durability, high-throughput interference filters to produce more light when compared to the presently available Mini-CrimeScope 400. Its power and intensity enable improved sensitivity, thereby helping to detect the faintest of evidence.

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance is brighter when compared to other commercially available handheld light source in its class, bar none. In fact, it is brighter than any handheld forensic laser.

Portability

The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance is lightweight when compared to all other forensic light sources in its class and, hence, it is the preferred choice for all the crime scenes. Users will now be able to bring laboratory intensity into the field; the MCS-ADV is delivered in a rugged, padded case that can be carried easily.

The latest case can also be transformed into a backpack. The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance has been developed for traveling purposes.

Ease of Use

The MCS-ADV includes a patented filter wheel at the working end of the liquid light guide. To change a filter, users can simply 'flick a thumb' on the hand that is navigating the light guide. Other manufacturers cannot make this claim.

While other alternate light sources are being used, two features are crucial—that is, wavelength selection and light intensity. The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance offers excellent light intensity in an easily controllable, round uniform spot, enabling users to optimize the amount of light that falls onto the evidence.

More light on the evidence means brighter fluorescence. The Mini-CrimeScope® Advance offers several wavelengths and the simplest way to switch them. Numerous wavelengths are crucial in rejecting fluorescence or background. The proof users are generally looking for fluoresces while being excited at most spectral wavelengths.

When users have a background that also fluoresces the numerous wavelengths, they can choose the perfect wavelength to reject the background and boost contrast.

Upgradability

To remain on the top of the line of the forensic light source, the unit should be handy both today and tomorrow. Keeping this aspect in mind, the Mini-CrimeScope® Advance was developed to be upgradable. Extra filter wheels can also be added at any time.
