What is ‘Intrinsically Safe’?
Alicat's IS-Max mass flow and IS-Pro pressure instruments are designed to be intrinsically safe.
The term intrinsically safe refers to a safety concept applicable in hazardous environments. In essence, an intrinsically safe device is one that does not generate sufficient heat or electrical current to ignite flammable gases or vapors in its vicinity.
Whether operating in an environment where hazardous gases are always present (class I div 1), or only during unusual situations (class I div 2), it is advisable, if not mandatory, to utilize the equipment that is intrinsically safe.
