NanoSight Pro: Revolutionizing Nano and Biomaterial Characterization

Thanks to the introduction of the NanoSight Pro, Malvern Panalytical is able to provide the best-in-class, simple, and rapid nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) solution for nano- and biomaterial characterization.

The combination of advanced engineering and a blend of smart features assures NTA measurements are efficient, quick, and accessible to all users. Machine learning-powered NS Xplorer software automates measurements, prevents subjectivity, and provides the highest quality size and concentration data for both light scatter and fluorescence analysis.

Interchangeable lasers ensure application flexibility, whilst Smart Manager connection assures robustness without having to worry about quality issues or downtime.

Features and Benefits

Quick Install and Analysis

NanoSight Pro can be used by any user in any lab. The smart installation allows users to get up and running quickly. With minimal setup, simple operation, and intuitive NS Xplorer software, users are able to assess their samples in a matter of minutes.

Intelligent and Automated

NanoSight Pro’s machine learning and intelligent features automate processing and eliminate human error, resulting in superior particle identification and reliable particle tracking for reproducible and high-quality data.

Highest Resolution

The NanoSight Pro identifies nanoscale particles in the range of 10 nm to 1000 nm, as well as low scattering and biological particles. Particle–by–particle analysis ensures concentrated, high-resolution data with visual confirmation.

Power of Fluorescence

In addition to light scatter, fluorescence signals can be detected from fluorescently tagged biologics or synthetic particles, providing even greater insight into samples.

Interchangeable laser modules with four excitation wavelengths can be used in combination with the matching long-pass filters to achieve the optimum setup, which is supported by in-flow analysis for better sampling and tracking of even photobleaching samples.

The greater fluorescence sensitivity ensures subpopulation identification, including surface markers, internal cargo detection, or depreciation of contaminants sensitivity.

Key Applications

The Malvern Panalytical NanoSight Pro has numerous applications, including:

Extracellular Vesicles (EV)

While research into the generation and roles of extracellular vesicles is ongoing, monitoring and controlling their isolation and purification is essential.

The NanoSight NTA allows for quick and easy evaluation of vesicle size and concentration in aqueous buffers, ensuring confidence in the quality of the sample used in any subsequent research, while fluorescence can assist in elucidating the origin subpopulations of EVs.

Virus and Vaccines

When manufacturing vaccines, controlled production processes are essential to ensure that the immune system can appropriately dose and recognize the materials. NTA assists in the optimization of manufacturing processes by ensuring the size distribution of the vaccine is maintained. As NTA is also able to count and size viruses, it can be used as a faster alternative to titer assays.

Drug Delivery and Gene Therapy

With drug delivery and gene therapy products, 70-150 nm is the typical size of particles required to ensure effective disease targeting in the clinical.

NTA is ideally suited to study the size of these particles from early-stage research through to candidate screening, formulation development, and clinical batch monitoring. The concentration measurement allows for dose determination of the final product as well as for use in in vitro and in vivo assays.

Temperature, pH change, agitation, shear, and time can affect the stability of biotherapeutic proteins, causing denaturation and aggregation, which can lead to efficacy loss and the potential for an unwanted immune response. NTA provides high-resolution size distributions of sub-visible aggregates in a formulation for safety and quality assurance.

Nanomaterials are garnering regulatory attention as they are being incorporated into everyday items. It is essential to fully characterize these particles, their properties, and their contribution to the finished product.

NanoSight can provide a number-based concentration for these nanomaterials and high-resolution size distributions to individuals working at the nanoscale in environmental, industrial, and toxicological domains.

Ultrafine Bubbles

Work on ultrafine bubbles has gained popularity in recent years, with applications ranging from industrial cleaning and water treatment to agriculture and food and medical applications.

Although their relatively low concentration and small size are a challenge for many traditional nanoparticle characterization techniques, NTA is particularly well-suited for the detection and analysis of these bubbles.
