Zetasizer Ultra is the newest and most well-developed system by Malvern Panalytical. It is used to measure the particle and molecule size, as well as particle charge and particle concentration. That makes it the most intelligent and flexible instrument from the Zetasizer range.
This flagship instrument is just as easy to use and as good in analyzing speed and data confidence, as the ZS Xplorer software is. Although it has the same benefits, it also includes two extra measurement improvements: Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering (MADLS
®) and Particle Concentration. Hence, it offers even greater insight into the samples. Overview
Zetasizer Ultra incorporates Non-Invasive Back Scatter (NIBS ®) and Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering (MADLS) technologies, which make it the most capable combined DLS and ELS system for measurement of particle and molecular size. A measurement that is versatile and sensitive, over a wide range of concentration, is ensured by the NIBS. MADLS also allows for sample size distribution to be viewed in higher resolution.
MADLS has an extra extension that enables the direct analysis of the concentration of particles. The measurement is calibration-free, applicable to a wide range of materials, requires no or little dilution, and is quick to use. All of those make it a perfect screening technique. The measurement of viruses and VLPs has been a challenging process, but the improvements of the Zetasizer Ultra make it possible.
The M3-PALS technology of the
Zetasizer Ultra allows for the measurement of highly sensitive zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility. The affordable capillary cells offered enable the measurements in extremely low volumes, without direct sample-electrode contact, using the patented diffusion barrier method. They are also disposable and the information provided by these measurements is an excellent indicator of sample stability and/or propensity to aggregate.
