JEOL Auto Fine Coater for SEM imaging

The JEOL Auto Fine Coater is a user-friendly sputter coater designed to apply a fine-grained platinum coating to non-conductive samples for SEM imaging. A platinum target is included with the system, and alternative targets such as gold (Au) and gold/palladium (Au/Pd) are also available.

This system features fully automated vacuum control—using either air or argon purge—and sputtering. For samples with complex topography, an optional rotating and tilting specimen stage ensures more uniform coating coverage.

Key Features

  • Deposits a thin, conductive film that reduces charging on non-conductive materials and improves secondary electron emission.
  • Employs a low-voltage discharge system with a magnetron electrode for efficient, cold sputtering.
  • Supports both automatic and manual operation, with selectable gas types (air or argon).
  • Coating thickness can be adjusted by modifying sputtering current, sputtering time, the distance from the target, and the sample’s position relative to the center of the stage.
